ATLANTA, March 17, 2009 – Sterling Planet today announced organizational changes designed to enhance how the company serves current and prospective customers. The changes are also an important part of the company’s overall strategy and ongoing actions and to continue to foster an increasingly collaborative, team-oriented business atmosphere.
The company has created Corporate Sales and Client Relations functions reporting directly to the President and CEO of Sterling Planet. Leaders named to the posts are Sandi Johnson, Director of Corporate Sales, and Val Christopher, Director of Client Relations.
“Both Val and Sandi have demonstrated over the past several years commitment and focus that is worthy of recognition and will continue to benefit Sterling Planet now and in the future, as they take on these challenging and important company roles,” said Mel Jones, President and CEO of Sterling Planet. “I am confident that Val and Sandi will bring their energy and ability to these new positions to enthusiastically support the entire life cycle of a corporate account – before the sale and after the sale.”
As Director of Corporate Sales, Sandi Johnson leads all business development activities related to nonutility clients. Areas of focus include sales of renewable energy certificates and other environmental assets to corporate, university, government and nonprofit clients. In addition, Sandi’s organization serves clients purchasing environmental assets as a way to earn LEED® certification points and gain ‘green building’ status from the U.S. Green Building Council. Meanwhile, partnership opportunities with utilities and municipalities remain the focus of Alden Hathaway and Rick Burkhalter.
As Director of Client Relations, Val Christopher is responsible for meeting and exceeding client expectations after the sale. She manages utility green pricing program relationships and infrastructure and administers relevant contracts. Val also heads up new programs aimed at increasing awareness and adoption of ‘green’ strategies by both individuals and businesses. Under her purview are the company’s new Green for Schools™ educational and fund-raising program for primary and secondary schools, as well as the Green for All™ enrollment program for clients who wish to extend company-sponsored renewable energy or carbon neutrality signup to employees and other stakeholders.
